Nikolay Nikolayevich Zhukov (1908-1973) was a prominent Russian graphic designer, cartoonist, and artist celebrated for his wartime illustrations and post-war book designs. During World War II, he served as the artistic director of the "Studio of Military Artists named for Mitrofan Borisovich Grekov." He contributed illustrations to “Pravda” and the army newspaper “To Defeat the Enemy.” Post-war, Zhukov became renowned for illustrating “The Story of a Real Man” (1952) and “Memoirs of Marx and Engels” (1956), and his posters earned him notable recognition. His honors include the Stalin State Prize (1943, 1951), People's Artist of the USSR (1963), and the Order of Lenin (1967). A house museum was created in Yelets to commemorate his legacy in 1992.
