While it is possible that the second revised edition of this Ukrainian children’s book could have been produced in the displaced persons (DP) camps, its specific origin remains unclear. As per the Internet Encyclopedia of Ukraine, the book was printed in 1942.

Oksana Steshenko (1875–1941) was a Ukrainian writer, known for her contributions to children's literature and literary criticism. Among other notable works are the anthology of children's literature "Ridni Kolosky" (Native Sheaves, 1924; later edition titled "Kolosky Zhyttia" or Sheaves of Life, 1925) and "Heroi Zv'iazku" (Heroes of Communication, 1930). Steshenko also engaged in literary translation, bringing Russian literature into Ukrainian. Alongside her sister, Liudmyla Starytska-Cherniakhivska, she faced arrest by the NKVD, leading to deportation to Kazakhstan, where they perished, presumably during transit.
