Dmytro Ivanovych Chyzhevsky (1894 – 1977) was a Ukrainian-born scholar renowned for his expertise in Slavic literature, history, culture, and philosophy. During World War II, he worked at the University of Marburg. After the war, he immigrated to the United States in 1949, teaching at Harvard University before returning to Germany in 1956 to join Heidelberg University as a professor of Slavic studies until his death in 1977.
