Book measures: 21 x 15 cm. 15 pages. Text in Ukrainian. The supplement to the weekly "Our life" authorized by EUCOM Hq. Civil Affairs Division. Editor: Pavlo Kotowycz. There appears to be an inconsistency in the publication date. While the cover indicates 1946, the title page states 1948. The wrappers are separated from the text block.

A collection of children's stories published and distributed among Ukrainian refugees in the displaced persons camps of post-World War II Germany.

Vasyl Chaplenko (1900-1990) was a versatile Ukrainian figure, known as a writer, playwright, linguist, and editor. He was associated with esteemed organizations such as the Shevchenko Scientific Society, founded in 1873, and the Ukrainian Free Academy of Sciences (UVAN), established in Augsburg in 1945 by Ukrainian immigrant scientists. During World War II, he taught Ukrainian at the Transport Institute in Dnepropetrovsk before relocating to Germany in 1943 and later to the United States in 1949. In the early 1950s, he served as the chief editor of the Sunday edition of the Svoboda newspaper and launched the Universe magazine. Chaplenko resided in Brooklyn and passed away in Matawan, New Jersey, with his final resting place at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in Bound Brook, New Jersey.
