The book explores the role of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the history of Ukraine and its impact on preserving the national identity of Ukrainians. The publication is dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the signing of the Union of Brest.

Volodymyr Teodorovych Murovych (pseudonyms: Dr. V. Lev, V. Stebelsky; 1888 – 1968) was a prominent legal scholar, public figure, and journalist. He studied law at Lviv University and practiced as an assistant lawyer until World War I, during which he served as a sublieutenant in the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen and played a role in organizing the armed uprising in Lviv. Captured by Polish forces in 1920, he was interned until 1922. He later worked as a lawyer, obtaining his doctorate in law in 1925. During World War II, he was imprisoned by Polish authorities and later served in the Galicia Division's court. Settling in Germany after the war, he founded and led the "Ukrainian Catholic Publishing House" and edited several publications. He authored numerous articles, essays, and historical investigations, including works on the Greek Catholic Church and religious pilgrimages.
