With handwritten markings on the front wrapper, title page, and initial pages, as well as the "A. A. Granovsky" exlibris on the rear endpaper. The wrappers are detaching from the text block. As of January 2024, OCLC only identifies one copy of this book located at Saint Basil's College Library in Stamford, CT.
Alexander Granovsky, a prominent Ukrainian American entomologist, activist, and poet, is a noteworthy previous owner of this copy. Granovsky, a leading figure in the Ukrainian American community, played a significant role in the resettlement of Ukrainian refugees after World War II. His association with this book adds an additional layer to its historical and cultural significance.
Mikola Pohidnyi, a Ukrainian children's writer, was born in Galychyna (Ivano-Frankivsk region) in 1901. He also served as a priest in various churches in Ukraine. In 1944, he emigrated to Europe, where he spent four years in a German camp for displaced persons (DP). In 1948, he relocated to the U.S., where he played a prominent role within the Ukrainian community. He passed away in Millville, New Jersey, in 1982.
