Commissioned by the Ukrainian League of Political Prisoners in Munich, which was founded in 1947, this work was published probably the same year, with a noble purpose in mind – to raise funds for Ukrainian survivors and displaced persons. This scarce Ukrainian DP album, created by Olena Vityk-Voitovych, a survivor of the Ravensbrück concentration camp, offers a striking collection of ten color illustrations depicting life in the largest women's concentration camp during World War II. These powerful images, accompanied by Ukrainian captions, vividly convey the daily struggles of Ukrainian women prisoners.

Vityk-Voitovych's artwork, along with the context, makes this book an invaluable testament to the resilience and strength of those who endured unimaginable hardships during World War II, shedding light on a dark chapter in history and honoring the memory of the women who lived through it.

The Ukrainian League of Political Prisoners, established in 1947 in Munich, had a noble mission. Its primary objectives were to provide support and assistance to its members and the families of deceased political prisoners, as well as to curate and publish literary works authored by or related to Ukrainian political prisoners, whether they were still living or had passed away. This association played a crucial role in preserving the legacy and experiences of those who had endured the hardships of political imprisonment.
