Vitold Kaetanovich Byalynitsky-Birulya (1872-1957) was a renowned landscape painter whose work spanned the Russian, Soviet, and Belarusian art scenes. His artistic journey began in Kyiv at the cadet corps and continued at the celebrated Kiev drawing school Murashki. This institution was linked to illustrious artists like Repin, Vrubel, Serov, and Malevich. At 17, he enrolled in the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he met and later worked in the studio of Isaac Levitan. Byalynitsky-Birulya's career was marked by significant achievements. In 1947, he was elected to the USSR Academy of Arts, receiving the honor of becoming an Honorary Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Soviet Belarus. His artistic legacy is substantial; he left behind around 2000 paintings and sketches, which are now treasured in various museums and private collections worldwide. His work captures the essence of the landscapes he portrayed, reflecting the artistic trends and cultural milieu of his time.
