The inaugural issue of the "Weekly of Soviet Justice" was released on January 1, 1922, and printed at the Cheka printing house in Moscow, with an initial circulation of 15,000 copies, later increasing to 30,000. The magazine's editorial office was located at the Moscow Kremlin within the All-Russian Central Executive Committee building.

The magazine aimed to promote an understanding of Soviet law among the working masses and provide justice workers with insights into the activities of central and local legal bodies. It emphasized practical coverage of everyday issues local workers face alongside theoretical discussions.

Throughout its history, the magazine had various chief editors, including D. Kursky (1926–1928).
