Grigory Petrovich Klimov (also known as Igor Borisovich Kalmykov), was a writer, journalist, and editor who authored numerous publications and lectures. He worked as a translator for the Soviet Military Administration in Berlin from 1945 to 1947 before fleeing to West Germany upon receiving orders to return to Moscow. Eventually, he moved to the USA.
Klimov is known for his marginal concept of "higher sociology" or "degenerology," which provides an interpretation of history and sociology. However, his rhetoric in defense of this concept is often interwoven with xenophobic constructions, particularly those that are anti-Semitic and homophobic. According to Yaroslav Mogutin, Klimov's controversial views have made him a hero among certain crowds and the subject of a cult following.
