Iar Slavutych (Hryhoriy Zhuchenko, 1918-2011) - Ukrainian poet, translator. In the aftermath of WWII lived in a displaced persons camp in Germany, then moved to the USA; since 1960 lived in Canada, where he became a Professor at the University of Alberta. He is the author of many English-language textbooks on the Ukrainian language, literary-critical essays, editor and publisher of the literary and art almanac "Northern Lights" (Edmonton). Member of the Ukrainian Writers' Association "Word".
