An attractive Soviet OSOAVIAKhIM (Society for the Promotion of Defense, Aviation, and Chemical Construction) certificate awarded in 1931 to a Red Army reservist for exemplary participation in military preparedness and public-defense activities. It is dated 20 March 1931 and signed by the commander of a separate special battalion, with an additional signature for the political commissar.

OSOAVIAKhIM played a central role in preparing civilians and reservists for military service. Founded in 1927, it became one of the Soviet Union's largest voluntary mass organizations, responsible for pre-military education, firearms training, aviation clubs, chemical defense instruction, and physical preparedness.
