Retail Broadside Advertisement for the Fitov Brothers, Kishinev (c. 1890s)

This late nineteenth-century commercial broadside flyer is a remarkably well-preserved example of regional Russian textile marketing, printed as a standalone advertisement intended for distribution as a loose periodical insert. Produced on exceptionally thin, fragile low-density paper, the broadside features black letterpress typography set within an elegant, ornate floral typographic border. The text announces that the linen department (polotnianoe otdielenie) of the manufacturing store owned by the Trading House of the Brothers P. and A. Fitov has been stocked with a premier selection of linens, tablecloths, napkins, handkerchiefs, and underwear sourced from first-class factories. Additionally, the advertisement outlines the shop's specialized custom services, which accepted orders for custom men's and women's undergarments alongside complete bridal trousseaus (polnoe pridannoe dlia neviest). Printed in Kishinev by S. A. Dolinsky, the broadside represents a highly precarious survival of daily pre-revolutionary commercial ephemera; due to the extreme thinness of the stock, pieces of this nature were overwhelmingly discarded upon reading, making an example in this intact, uncreased condition exceedingly uncommon.
