A Ukrainian émigré historical novel by Kharyton Dovhaliuk depicting episodes from life in Volhynia during the interwar period and the broader struggle for Ukrainian national independence. Written and published in the Ukrainian diaspora in Argentina, the work reflects the political and ideological climate of émigré intellectual circles during the Cold War. In the author’s preface, Dovhaliuk emphasizes that the Ukrainian national movement of the 1960s should be understood as a continuation of earlier struggles against Russian imperial domination. Drawing upon personal memories and experiences, the narrative presents fictionalized portraits of activists, rural life, and resistance within the context of twentieth-century Ukrainian history. Issued in a relatively small print run of 1,000 copies by the Buenos Aires Ukrainian émigré press of Iulian Serediak, the book forms part of the rich but often scarce body of Ukrainian diaspora literature produced in Latin America.
