The Key to Uranian Astrology
New York, NY: Self-published, 1969. Pilot Edition. Item #1561
A rare and foundational work in mid-20th-century Uranian astrology, this is the scarce 1969 Pilot Edition of The Key to Uranian Astrology by Hans Niggemann, self-published in a small run of only 500 copies. As stated in Niggemann’s own preface, this work was intended to remedy the often daunting structure of Witte’s Lexikon der Planetenbilder and the 1959 Rules for Planetary Pictures, allowing astrologers to locate interpretive formulas through situational indexing rather than formula-first deduction.
The text includes simplified instructions and core principles for working with planetary pictures, solar arc directions, sensitive points, midpoints, and symmetrical configurations—core tenets of Uranian astrology. A loosely inserted typed sheet titled “Rules” summarizes these principles in concise language, with references to contemporary planetary positions (e.g., retrograde Uranus and Neptune). It also hints at the use of sidereal measurements and broader metaphysical interpretations, including mass influence through media and occult implications—a fascinating artifact in itself.
