A historical-adventure tale by Oleksa Voropai (1906–1988), better known for his celebrated ethnographic work Zvychai nashoho narodu (The Customs of Our People). With humor and vivid narration, the story recreates the events of the 1910s–1920s through the fictional voice of a peasant from the village of Khytrovtsi in the Poltava region.
