An early émigré children’s publication issued for the Ukrainian diaspora, Zolota rybka is a rhymed retelling of the classic folk tale of the golden fish, adapted into verse by Ukrainian poet Myron Dolia. The tale, deeply rooted in Eastern European oral tradition, follows a humble fisherman who catches a magical golden fish that offers to grant wishes in exchange for its freedom—only for human greed to lead to a downfall.
