A lyrical poetry collection by Hanna Cherin, a significant voice of Ukrainian émigré literature. This volume gathers poems written over a ten-year period—from 1960 through 1970—and reflects the emotional, cultural, and political resonance of the Ukrainian diaspora experience.
Hanna Cherin (Halyna Ivanivna Hrybinska-Pankiv) was forced to flee Ukraine during World War II and spent several years in Displaced Persons camps in Germany, where she began publishing her poetry. She emigrated to the United States in 1950, eventually earning degrees in linguistics and library science from the University of Chicago. A prolific poet, writer, and librarian, Cherin became a pillar of Ukrainian literary life in the diaspora, producing over twenty-six books and numerous contributions to émigré periodicals.
