This volume examines the Red Terror—a campaign of mass repression and violence carried out by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War (1917–1922). Framed as a tool of revolutionary justice, the Red Terror targeted social groups branded as “class enemies,” as well as individuals accused of counterrevolutionary activities. It served not only to suppress armed opposition but also to intimidate the wider civilian population, including those not directly engaged in the conflict.
