Belaia kniga po delu A. Siniavskogo i Iu. Danielia [The White Book on The Case of A. Sinyavsky and Yu. Daniel]

Frankfurt am Main: Posev, 1967. Item #1470

430 pages; 15 × 9.8 cm. In the original publisher’s printed wrappers. Typed manuscript reproduction in small typeface on thin paper for smuggling.

A documentary compilation on the landmark trial of Soviet writers Andrei Sinyavsky and Yuli Daniel (1965–1966), considered the birth of the Soviet dissident movement. The trial, which marked a reactionary turn in Soviet policy, attracted international outrage and domestic protest, galvanizing human rights activism across the USSR. Compiled by Moscow-based editor Aleksandr Ginzburg, the “White Book” was clandestinely smuggled out of the country, partially published in Grani (No. 62), and subsequently printed in full by Posev in this compact edition for underground distribution. This rare publication includes trial transcripts, legal documents, and public responses. Labeled in Savin’s émigré bibliography as “seldom encountered.”.
