Frankfurt am Main: Posev, 1980. Item #1465

Yurii Galanskov (1939–1972) was one of the brightest figures in the modern history of resistance to Soviet authoritarianism. A poet, dissident, and samizdat publisher, he was among the first to stand at the forefront of the open protest movement in the USSR.
This posthumously published volume includes Galanskov’s four best-known long poems, an unfinished novella fragment, prison letters, and a selection of essays and public statements. His fearless literary and political voice—nurtured in the crucible of the Khrushchev Thaw and silenced in the camps of Brezhnev’s era—played a key role in the development of late-Soviet dissent.
