2 volumes (320 + 274 pages); 19 cm. Cover design by N. I. Nikolenko. Both volumes in original printed wrappers. Wrappers with partial laminate peel, resulting in localized paper loss. Light creasing and edge wear to covers; corners slightly bumped. Interiors clean and unmarked. Tight bindings. Minimal toning to paper.

Ekaterina L'vovna Olitskaia was a prominent member of the Socialist-Revolutionary (SR) Party and a veteran of the anti-Bolshevik underground. Her memoirs provide an extensive first-person narrative of revolutionary and dissident activity spanning nearly six decades. Olitskaia was imprisoned in Soviet labor camps and prisons from 1929 to 1956, including the infamous Solovki, Suzdal, and Verkhneuralsk isolators. Her memoirs were originally circulated in samizdat within the USSR and are an important source on political repression, the fate of SR activists, and early Soviet penal institutions.

This Frankfurt edition, published by the Russian émigré publisher Posev, represents one of the earliest formal printings of her memoirs outside the Soviet Union. The book includes a preface urging readers to treat it carefully—a nod to its samizdat origins—and features a striking avant-garde cover design by N. I. Nikolenko.
