A bilingual (Russian-English) samizdat-style edition of Andrei Sakharov’s landmark essay Thoughts on Progress, Peaceful Coexistence, and Intellectual Freedom (1968), accompanied by a public letter co-signed with fellow dissidents Valentin Turchin and Roy Medvedev. Sakharov’s analysis called for responsible science, greater transparency, and a rethinking of Soviet policy, placing him at the forefront of the USSR’s human rights movement. The appended letter to Brezhnev, Kosygin, and Podgorny sharply criticized censorship and repression.
