First Russian-language edition of the seminal encyclopedic reference work by the eminent German Slavist Wolfgang Kasack (1927–2003), offering comprehensive biographical and bibliographical information on 619 Russian-language authors of the twentieth century. Spanning Soviet and émigré literary landscapes alike, the dictionary includes both officially recognized figures and those whose works were banned or circulated underground. This reference gained Kasack international recognition and is indispensable for research into modern Russian literature and intellectual history. Previously published only in German (1976, 1986), this is its first appearance in Russian, translated by Elena Vargaftik and Igor Burikhin. Rare in commerce.
