This work includes a selection of Borisov’s illustrations depicting scenes from the Russian Arctic, providing an ethnographic and artistic look into the lives of the indigenous peoples and the harsh landscapes of the Far North.
Aleksandr Alekseyevich Borisov (1866–1934) was a Russian artist, the first painter of the Arctic, as well as a writer, public figure, and explorer of polar regions. He made significant contributions to the study and development of transport and economic initiatives in the North.
