A small piece of the learning card inside is missing. There are black-and-white illustrations throughout the book. Illustrations are clean and without damage.

This is a 1948 third revised edition of a Soviet Bukvar' (primer) by N. A. Kostin, intended for teaching children to read. It contains various exercises, as well as patriotic and ideological texts typical of the period. The illustrations, including images of Lenin and Stalin, reflect the strong political influences in Soviet education at the time.
