Koza-Dereza" is a charming one-act opera for children composed by the renowned Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko in 1888. This delightful work, infused with Lysenko's signature blend of Ukrainian folk melodies and engaging narrative, debuted in 1890 at Lysenko's residence in Kyiv, making it a cherished piece of Ukrainian musical heritage.

The original tale of Koza-dereza unfolds with an elderly couple and their sons, whose harmony is shattered by a cunning goat. This scheming animal sows discord within the family, and by the time the old man sees through the goat's deceit, the damage is done. The goat, undeterred, moves on to seize a rabbit's home, resisting the efforts of various animals attempting to reclaim it.
