A limited edition portfolio titled "Grosse Bibliotheken der Welt: Schätze der Russischen Nationalbibliothek. 1000 Jahre Buchmalerei." Published in 2007 by Coron bei Kindler in Berlin, this collection is a tribute to the rich heritage of the Russian National Library's manuscript collection. It includes 10 meticulously crafted facsimile plates, each presented under a mat, accompanied by detailed commentary and 10 loose descriptions of the individual miniatures.

These are all housed in an elegant red leather case with mounted golden eagle, replicating the emblem of the Russian National Library, and adorned with rich gold embossing. This portfolio, measuring 45 x 34 cm, is one of 1995 copies, with this particular copy being No. 26. It is impeccably preserved, in as-new condition, making it a remarkable addition for collectors of historical book illumination and Russian national treasures.

The design of the case draws inspiration from the wooden case of the Russian National Library where founding documents are kept. The set contains miniatures of manuscripts from various cultural circles, including Byzantine, Russian, Persian, as well as Western European book illumination, with notable Greek and French examples spanning from the 9th to the 19th centuries. The language of the accompanying commentary is German, and the facsimiles represent some of the most important miniatures from the manuscript collection of the Russian National Library.
