Sergey Germanovich Pushkarev (1888-1984) - a notable historian of the Russian émigré community, was expelled from the university in 1910 for his Marxist activities. He joined the White Army during the Civil War and, after being injured, relocated to Turkey and then Prague in 1920. In Prague, he taught at the Russian Free University, contributing to the Czech Slavic University and the Russian Foreign Historical Archive. Post-World War II, Pushkarev taught at Yale University, researching Lenin's connections with Kaiser Wilhelm II, the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, and related topics.
