A philosophical essay and one of the latest works published by Vladimir Pimenovich Krymov (1878-1968), a Russian prose writer, entrepreneur, and publisher, was born into an Old Believer family. After graduating with honors from the Petrovskaya Agricultural Academy in 1908, he managed his family's timber business across Russia. Influenced by Friedrich Nietzsche, he began writing short stories in 1900, publishing his first book in 1908 under a pseudonym. His extensive travels provided material for his acclaimed travel essays. During World War I, he supplied Packard cars to the Russian army and, post-1917 Revolution, moved to Sweden before embarking on a world tour. Settling in Berlin in 1921, he published several works, including the trilogy "For Millions" (1933), capturing pre-revolutionary Russian life. Krymov later moved to France, where he lived until his death. He inspired a character in Mikhail Bulgakov's play "The Flight.
